She sang in choirs entered performances in singing contests, and was a part of the community theatre and in high school. The actress moved from Los Angeles to study theatre at the University of Southern California and then played Belle the princess of Beauty and the Beast for one year and a half in Disneyland. However, the strong storyline and feminist element made her choose to take on the role. Steven R. Monroe, director of the film, made it available on the 8th of October 2010. In November of 2011, Butler and Estella Warren began filming the thriller based on psychological research The Stranger Within in Mallorca in Spain. She was part of the cast for Los Angeles of Treachery, which starred Michael Biehn. Filming began in Los Angeles on June 12, 2012. Butler co-starred with Michael Welch in 2013's horror film The Demented.
